MAKUA ROTHMAN

Makua Rothman is a renowned professional surfer from Hawaii, best known for his prowess in big wave surfing. Born in 1983 on the North Shore of Oahu, Rothman grew up immersed in the surf culture of Hawaii, surrounded by some of the best waves in the world.

Rothman's career took off in the early 2000s, and he quickly earned a reputation for his fearless approach to big waves. In 2004, when he got invited at the prestigious Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational at Waimea Bay, a legendary event that pays tribute to the late surfer and lifeguard, Eddie Aikau. 

Known for his powerful and daring style, Rothman has surfed some of the biggest waves in the world, including at famous spots like Teahupo’o in Tahiti, Pipeline on Oahu’s North Shore, and Jaws (Peahi) on Maui. His deep connection with the Hawaiian waves and respect for the ocean have made him a revered figure not just in competitive surfing but also in the broader surf community.
