To build the best soft boards possible, we’ve kept it simple. Proven JS small wave shapes that you can actually maneuver, built to maximize durability and safety.

It starts with the same top-quality materials and construction processes we use in our world-renowned JS range, and is finished with a soft 3mm PE shell all over, plus a slick bottom & Carbon T-Stringer.

The Bull Run is built for surfers who want a generous outline with a full nose, providing more stability, easier paddling and extra momentum down the line. While less extreme than our dedicated super grovellers, you’ll be able to get plenty of volume hidden in a much shorter board.

Rocker

An overall flat rocker is the perfect all-round rocker creating speed and glide in small to average conditions.
Fin setup

Comes as a thruster. You can also ride it as a 2+1.
Glassing specs

EPS core covered in 6 x 4 oz glass on deck and 6 oz on bottom.
Rail type

Full rail using a thermoform material to give the best rail shape and bond.

See our JS softboard cross section below. We glass an EPS core with 6 x 4 oz glass on the deck and 6 oz on the bottom. Through the vacuum sealing process, we then wrap the board with our crocodile skin EVA. All this is reinforced with a Carbon T-stringer running nose to tail.

CONCAVE

The Bull Run’s bottom contour is all about extra lift and water flow, with easy transition from rail to rail. Single concave starts under the front foot deeper than the Raging Bull for smaller conditions, running through to a moderate double concave forward of the fins.

    Kind of like a hard bottom, eh? And a soft top

    The 6'8 Bull Run feels really good under the arm, and the rails are less boxy than I expected compared with other groveller-style boards. I’ve surfed it a couple of times now, from clean 1–2 ft waves through to 3–4 ft Jan Juc, and it handled both well.

    It does like a few pumps to get speed going, but once it’s moving it feels easy to turn. I’m mid-40s, 100 kg, and a goofy footer — and that’s where the comparisons to Occy end — but I was genuinely surprised by how responsive it felt for its length and my weight, paired with large Neo Glass fins.

    Overall, it’s a fun board with more performance orientation than I expected from a soft-top. After all, it’s kind of like a hard bottom, eh? And a soft top!
