REED PLATENIUS
Reed Platenius, born on February 7, 2004, in Comox, British Columbia, is a Canadian surfer from Tofino. He quickly made a name for himself by winning the 2023 North American Pro Junior title, becoming the first Canadian to achieve this prestigious title. This victory earned him a spot in the WSL Junior World Championships, marking his entry into the international surfing scene.
Standing at 1.90 meters, Reed began his career on the Qualifying Series (QS) circuit in 2020. In 2024, he ranked 36th on the QS with 1,056 points, with his best result being a 13th place finish. His determination, strong work ethic, and love for surfing are key to his success. Outside of competitions, he is also known for his explorations across Canada, particularly through videos like "ALMANAC" with Rip Curl.
His ambition is clear: to represent Canada on the World Championship Tour (CT) and bring his country’s flag to the highest level in the world of surfing.
