Traktor Team quivers at the Abu Dhabi Surf Pro CT

Our CT Traktor Team is in Abu Dhabi for the first WSL contest in the world's largest wavepool, and the warm-ups saw plenty of action as everyone worked on what they'd ride in their heats.

Add into the mix our three wildcards in Kauli, Mateus & Bronson and it's no surprise that there's a huge range of approaches, dimensions and constructions being chosen as favourite boards.

While other wavepools typically see more surfers choosing HYFI3 and CarboTune boards for extra spark, Abu Dhabi's pool being closer to ocean water has meant more of the team are really enjoying their shortboards in standard PU, especially if there's wind. Ryan for example has so far felt best on a 5'11" PU Monsta 10, just a one inch step down from usual.

Then there's others like Bronson, who's just won his World Junior Championship riding only CarboTune models. So far in Abu Dhabi he's leaning towards his HYFI3 5'9" Xero Gravity, as it feels sharpest on the flatter sections but still has enough curve to fit in a tight pocket. Miguel's also leaning towards a HYFI3 5'9", with his Xero Fusion step down feeling best of the eight boards he's tried so far.
